Tryout Update from the CHC/CT Northern Light, Spring/Summer Skil May 14, 2020 Tryout Update f rom the CHC/CT Northern Light, Spring/Summer Skills and High School Spring League Hello everyone, We have been notified by CHC that starting today Thursday, May 14, 2020 we can start offering commitments and contracts for the following levels: CHC Girls Tier I and Tier II U14, U16 and U19 National Bound Teams If you have registered for tryouts, evaluations have already started. If you have not registered for tryouts and would like to be considered for a Northern Light team, please email me at ASAP. The $100 tryout fee will go toward a 3 hour mini camp in August that will be open to all players that paid the tryout fee. The mini camp will be run by college players and coaches. We are going through our tryout list as quickly as possible and will start sending out contracts today, and hope to be completed by Saturday. As in the past years, we will still be offering a U15/16 New England Girls Hockey League team, as well as a U16/19 New England Girls Hockey League team that will start in September and end at the end of November. As soon as CHC lifts restrictions and allows us to form the remainder of our teams from U8-U19 that are not National Bound, we will proceed with tryouts. Now that the state is in the process of starting to reopen, rink owners feel that the next step is to open the arenas, sometime around June 20th. We plan on running our spring skills over the summer and our high school spring league will now become the high school summer league. If you have registered for the spring skills or the spring high school league, your registration is valid for the new summer leagues, which will hopefully run July and August. Due to the Corona virus crisis, we are in a territory that is unknown to all of us. We will get through this and come out stronger. Dan Giordano by posted 05/15/2020 Share NATIONAL GIRLS HOCKEY LEAGUE THE NGHL IS THRILLED TO SHARE THAT THE CT NORTHERN LIGHTS WILL JOIN THE LEAGUE FOR THE 2020-21 SEASON. The CT Northern Lights is the only all-girls ice hockey Tier 1 and Tier 2 hockey program in Northern Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. The program is committed to supporting the development of young women as athletes, leaders, and members of society through a competitive hockey environment that instills life values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, a consistent work ethic, and respect for self and others. The program was founded in 2000 as part of the Avon-Canton-Farmington-Youth-Hockey organization. , then known as Avon Girls Hockey, had only one U-15 team in the 2000 - 2001 inaugural season. In the 2002 – 2003 season, Northern Lights also added an additional U-15 team and launched the Learn-to-Play and Learn-to-Skate (Foundation) program which was the first team called the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights became a standalone program in the 2003-2004 season. The program moved to the Newington Arena in Newington, CT for the 2003 – 2004 season and started a U-12 team and also a High School team. In the 2004 – 2005 season Northern Lights moved to the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury, CT, where the Northern Lights call home today. The Northern Lights continues to grow and offer programs to girls of all ages and abilities throughout the state of Connecticut. Coach CJ says, "Caitlyn has been a backbone for the Northern Lights U19 Silver team for the past two seasons, and I have personally had the chance to watch her develop as an athlete since her U14 year. She brings remarkable athleticism to the crease and she's bailed her team out in the net more times than I can count.
